Quilt blocks that are totally pieced and quilted in the hoop are assembled differently than quilt blocks that have been made using traditional methods.
Traditional quilters must first join their quilt blocks. With the quilt top complete a quilt sandwich must be made. The sandwich, layers the quilt top, batting and the backing. Once assembled, this sandwich must be basted to keep the layers from shifting. Decorative quilting stitches are then added to the vast surface to prevent the batting from shifting during use.
Those of us embracing the precision and ease of combining piecing and quilting in the hoop know that when we remove our completed quilt blocks from the hoop - the batting and backing are already attached and the quilting stitches are in place. All that is left is joining the blocks.
Watch our instructional videos and learn how easily you can join blocks that have been pieced and quilted in the hoop.
